The Volvo XC40 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that makes 187 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Smooth shifting is ensured thanks to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This base engine is only available in a front-wheel drive configuration. If you're looking for all-wheel drive and/or more power, then there's the optional T5 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. This engine manages 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque while also pairing with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There's more good news, though. The T5 engine is solely available in an all-wheel drive version.
