A Closer Look at the Trims and Options of the 2020 Volvo XC60

First launched nearly a decade ago, the XC60 has established itself as a mainstay in Volvo's lineup, and as one of the top models in the luxury compact crossover segment. Elegant, spacious, and upscale, it's an excellent choice for drivers who need the utility of a crossover, but don't want to sacrifice luxury.

With three powertrain options, three trim levels, and several options packages, it can be hard to keep track of the various configuration options. So, to make research a little easier, we'll lay out the basics here.

Before selecting trims and options, you have to choose what you want under the hood. The XC60 comes in three primary variants based on powertrain:

  • T5: The standard T5 variant features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional.

  • T6: The XC60 is all-wheel drive only and adds a supercharger to the T5's engine. Dubbed "Twincharger," it increases total output to 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

  • T8 eAWD: The XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid adds an electric motor to the T6's Twincharger engine, improving both power and efficiency. The combined output is 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.

Trims and Notable Amenities

Each powertrain offers the choice of three primary trim levels:

It's technically the base trim, but Meriden shoppers will quickly discover that the Momentum tier is anything but basic. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, roof rails, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 9-inch Sensus infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker audio system. New for 2020, all XC60 models feature a 12.3-inch digital dash display.

Several driver aids are also standard. Volvo City Safety with Steer Support includes forward collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist, and large animal detection, and automatic emergency braking. Other standard safety features include Lane Keeping Aid, Run-off-road mitigation, and Oncoming Lane Mitigation.

Leaning into sporty aesthetics, this performance-inspired trim receives style upgrades, like a gloss-black mesh grille, matte silver mirror caps, integrated tailpipes, and a sport chassis. In the cabin, you'll find open grid Nappa leather upholstery, a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, Harman Kardon audio, and integrated navigation.

With a focus on luxury, the Inscription trim includes refined enhancements like Driftwood inlays, 19-inch 10-Spoke Black Diamond Cut Alloy wheels, four-zone automatic climate control, interior ambient lighting, a hands-free liftgate, keyless entry, and a cooled glovebox.

Notable Packages

  • Premium: Blind Spot Information system with Steer Assist, Cross Traffic Alert with Autobrake, auto-dimming and folding side mirrors, and a hands-free tailgate

  • Advanced: Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system with Adaptive Cruise Control, corning LED headlights, a surround-view camera system, and a head-up display

  • Luxury Seating: Premium leather upholstery and front seats with heat, ventilation, and massage.
